KEY APOLLO WOOD WOOL

Natural warmth, acoustic performance and fire compliance for commercial interiors.

KEY APOLLO WOOD WOOL

KEY APOLLO WOOD WOOL is a magnesite-bonded wood wool acoustic panel system designed for commercial interiors requiring natural aesthetics combined with acoustic functionality and fire compliance. The system is suitable for ceiling and wall applications where sound absorption, sustainability, and visual warmth are required.

KEY APOLLO WOOD WOOL panels are manufactured from compressed timber fibres bonded with mineral magnesite, creating a durable, natural surface that delivers Group 1 fire performance and acoustic ratings up to NRC 0.90.

Fire Rating Certification

Compliance: KEY APOLLO WOOD WOOL achieves the highest level of fire safety classification under AS5637.1:2015, suitable for use in commercial, education, healthcare, and public building applications.

NCC Compliance: Group 1-rated materials meet National Construction Code (NCC) requirements for internal linings in commercial and institutional buildings.

INSTALLATION METHODS

KEY APOLLO WOOD WOOL supports multiple installation methods to suit different substrate types and project requirements:
Direct Fix to Ceiling/Wall
1. Direct Fix to Ceiling/Wall

Method:

  • Panels fixed directly to solid substrate using mechanical fixings or adhesive.

Suitable for:

  • Solid concrete ceilings/walls
  • Timber framing with solid sheathing
  • Applications where an exposed grid is not desired

Fixings:

  • Mechanical: Screws with countersunk heads at panel corners and centres
  • Adhesive: High-grab construction adhesive (e.g., BOSTIK A785 or equivalent)

Edge Profile:

  • Bevel edge creates subtle shadow line between panels

Furring Channel System

2. Furring Channel System

Method:

  • Panels fixed to metal furring channels attached to ceiling/wall substrate

Suitable for:

  • Uneven substrates requiring levelling
  • Acoustic cavity requirements (spacing channels off substrate)
  • Applications requiring access above panels

System Components:

  • Metal furring channels (vertical or horizontal orientation)
  • Channel fixings to substrate
  • Panel fixings to channels
T-Bar Suspended Grid - Square Edge
3. T-Bar Suspended Grid – Square Edge

Method:

  • Lay-in panels (595mm × 595mm or 1195mm × 595mm) installed in exposed T-bar grid

Suitable for:

  • Standard commercial suspended ceiling applications
  • Areas requiring regular access to the ceiling plenum
  • Modular ceiling layouts

Grid Specification:

  • Standard 15/16” heavy-duty T-bar grid
  • 600mm or 1200mm nominal centres
  • Grid system to support panel weight (12-17 kg/m²)

Holding Down Clips:

  • May be required in areas with high air movement or seismic requirements

T-Bar Suspended Grid - Tegular Edge

4. T-Bar Suspended Grid – Tegular Edge

Method:

  • Tegular-edge panels create a recessed appearance in the exposed T-bar grid

Suitable for:

  • Commercial offices and workplaces
  • Applications requiring dimensional visual interest
  • Where grid exposure is acceptable, but a refined aesthetic desired

Grid Specification:

  • As per the square edge system

Visual Effect:

  • Panel face sits below the grid level, creating a 3D shadow pattern
